The water supply
| Seawater simulating natural living condition |
 |
Picture 11:
The algae is farmed inside long tubes wound along the walls of the light-flooded hall |
Two independently operating pump systems intake fresh seawater from approximately 400 metres off shore-close enough to make use of the oxygen-enriched surf and far enough away to prevent possible contaminations.
Several levels of filtration filter sand are clean the water until it reaches the sea snails and gently grazes the animals, simulating their natural living conditions. |
