The Final Treatment
The finished mabe pearls are slightly cut at the edges and the remains of organic material are carefully polished off the surface.
The sorting of the pearls follows the criteria of size, purity of surface, and intensity of its lustre and therefore goes along with common grading systems of natural pearls. However, different Abalone pearl-producers have inconsistent grading practices. |
