Photo documentation of Hohezollern castles
Photographer: Max Krajewsky (1892 - 1972). Photo documentation album of the Hohenzollern palaces in Berlin: Berliner Stadtschloß (5), Charlottenburg (10), Monbijou (26), Bellevue (3), Niederschönhausen (6) and others (9). 1930s-1940s. Circa 62 vintage gelatin silver prints (37 unmounted). Most circa 17 x 23 cm and larger. Most with photographer's blind stamp in lower left/right corner, several with title and date in negative, a few with photographer's stamp or label on the verso, circa 25 mounted along upper edge to album pages (first and last with Max Krajewsky's blind stamp), bound in contemporary canvas album (edges slightly soiled/rubbed) with chord binding. The architecture photographer Max Krajewsky photographed many of Berlin's historical buildings and also documented the monuments in Berlin destroyed during WWII. In this album his earlier photos of the impressive monuments are juxtaposed with the devastating images of destruction of 1944. It is a comprehensive and important record of the effects of WWII in Berlin. - Some photos with oxidation mirroring in dark areas, especially in edges, a few with discoloration spots, otherwise most in good to very good condition.
