Stoitzner nimmt uns mit auf einen Spaziergang an einem heißen Sommertag. Der Weg führt uns einen bewaldeten Hang entlang hinter einem Gehöft vorbei in Richtung saftiger Felder und grüner Wiesen. Aus dem schattigen Bildvordergrund, in dem man wegen der augenscheinlichen Sommertemperaturen gerne verweilt, wird der Blick des Betrachters den Weg entlang in die rechte Bildhälfte geführt. Über das leicht aus der Bildmitte gerückte Gehöft blickt man an einem Wäldchen vorbei in die Landschaft im Bildhintergrund, die sich bis an den oberen Bildrand erstreckt. Dieser extrem hohe Horizont, der keinen Blick auf den Himmel zulässt und die dargestellte Landschaft die gesamte Bildfläche einnehmen lässt, ist ein für Stoitzner typisches Kompositionselement. Das Sonnenlicht, das die Landschaft erhellt, lässt, obwohl man den Himmel nicht sieht, keinen Zweifel daran, dass es sich um einen wunderbaren, wolkenlosen Sommertag handelt. Wie so oft in Stoitzners Bildern ist die dargestellte Landschaft menschenleer. Durch die Kultivierung des Landes und die Gebäude ist seine Präsenz jedoch spürbar. Der Betrachter ist durch das gekonnte Heranführen des Motivs bis an den Bildrand selbst fast ein Teil der Komposition. Am liebsten möchte man seinen Fuß hineinsetzen in dieses Bild und dem kleinen Weg folgen, um diese herrliche Sommerlandschaft genießen zu können. Stoitzner takes us with him for a walk on a hot summer’s day. The path leads us along a wooded slope, behind a farm towards lush fields and green meadows. The viewer’s eyes are led from the shady foreground, which seems so appealing in the obvious heat of the day, along the path on the right of the picture. The farmhouse has been placed slightly off centre in the picture and our gaze skirts over it, passed a small wood, to the landscape in the background which continues up to the top. This very high horizon, which provides no glimpse of the sky and allows the landscape to take over the entire surface of the picture, is a typical feature in Stoitzner’s compositions. The sunlight illuminating the landscape leaves us without a shadow of a doubt that it is a beautiful, cloudless summer day, even though we can’t see the sky. As is so often the case in Stoitzner’s pictures, the landscape is deserted. Yet we can sense human presence in the cultivation of the countryside and the buildings. By skilfully drawing the motif up to the very edge of the picture, the viewer almost becomes part of the composition.
